Front Seat Backrest

‹› Removal and installation is described for left seat. The same instructions apply for removal and installation for the right seat.

Removing

-

Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

-

Remove front seat. Refer to --> [ Front Seat ] See: Service and Repair/Front Seats/Front Seat. 

-

Attach the seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

Remove right trim on seat.

Vehicles with manual seat adjustment

-

Remove left trim on seat.

Vehicles with power backrest adjustment on the driver seat

Remove right trim on seat. Refer to --> [ Right Seat Trim Panel with Power Lumbar Adjustment ] See: Service and Repair/Front Seats/Right Seat

Vehicles with electric seat adjustment

Remove left power seat trim. Refer to --> [ Power Seat Trim, Left ] See: Service and Repair/Front Seats/Power Seat Trim, Left.

All vehicles

-

Disengage retaining straps from backrest cover on underside of seat frame.

-

Disconnect wiring harnesses from side airbag and, if necessary, separate seat heater from seat frame and set wiring harnesses aside.

Remove two bolts each on left and right sides - 1 - and -  2 - (35 Nm).

‹› The bolts are microencapsulated and must therefore be replaced after every removal.

‹› Before installing the new bolts, the threads of the corresponding nuts must be cleaned.

Remove the backrest from the seat frame.
