Valve Cover: Service and Repair

Cylinder Head Cover

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) (VAG 1331)

‹› Spring type clip pliers (VAS 5024A)

‹› Ignition coil puller (T40039)

Removing

-

Remove the engine cover/upper air filter housing. Refer to --> [ Engine Cover/Upper Air Filter Housing ] See: Tune-up and Engine Performance
Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Service and Repair/Engine.

Remove the bolts - arrows -.

-

Remove the ignition coils with power output stages. Refer to --> [ Ignition Coils with Power Output Stages ] See: Powertrain Management/Ignition
System/Ignition Coil/Service and Repair.

Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) line - 1 - from the cylinder head cover.

-

Remove the crankcase ventilation valve housing bolts - arrows  - from the cylinder head cover.

-

Remove the crankcase ventilation line bolts - 1 - and heat shield from the turbocharger.
