Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

Transmission Input Speed Sensor and Clutch Oil Temperature Sensor

Description

Both sensors are combined into one component and can only be replaced together. They are coated with oil in transmission near multi-plate clutch.
Before removing, Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) Mechatronic (J743) must be removed.

‹› Often, the sensor cable is pulled. This damages it. If cable was pulled, sensor must be replaced.

Removing

Remove Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) Mechatronic (J743) --> [ Mechatronic, with Transmission Installed ] See: Transmission and
Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Valve Body/Service and Repair/Mechatronic, with Transmission Installed.

‹› Do not pull on wire!

Remove bolt and carefully pry out sensor with screwdriver or pliers. 

Installing

‹› Only install old sensor, if it is certain that:

‹› Sensor functions properly.

‹› Its wire was not pulled during removal.

If this is not the case, you should install a new sensor.

Insert sensor coated with DSG oil.

Tighten bolt to 10 Nm.

‹› Do not pinch line when installing Mechatronic!
