Test Sequence
CAUTION:
-
The fuel supply line is under pressure. Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent injuries and contact with skin.
-
Before loosening line connections, place a cloth around the connection point. Then release pressure by carefully pulling off the line.
-
Disconnect fuel supply line - 3 - at the supply location and catch any fuel coming out with a rag.
NOTE: Pull circlip upward to unlock the fuel line.
-
Install fuel injector pressure gauge V.A.G 1318 with adapter set V.A.G 1318/17A.
-
Open shut-off valve of pressure gauge. The lever points in direction of flow.
-
Switch ignition on and off often until fuel pressure on pressure gauge no longer rises.
-
Read off fuel pressure on pressure gauge:
-
Specified value: 3.5 to 6.0 bar.
If fuel pressure is OK, check retaining pressure. See: Residual Pressure, Checking
If specification is exceeded:
-
Check return line between fuel filter and Fuel Pump (FP) for kinks and blockage.
