Transmission, Changing Oil, Filter and Adjusting Oil Level

Oil and filter change with oil level adjustment only needs to be done after a repair or within the scope of a service inspection. There are no other
reasons to fill oil. 

Description

First, oil temperature is read out. If it is higher than 50° Celsius, allow transmission to cool. Then, with engine standing, overflow tube is removed and
oil is drained. Then overflow tube is reinstalled and transmission overfilled, engine started and excess oil drained off until oil level has reached
overflow tube.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› (VAS 5051)

‹› Adapter for oil filling (VAS 6262)

‹› Old oil collecting and extracting device (V.A.G 1782) or

‹› Drip tray (V.A.G 1306)

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

The DSG oil is obtainable as a replacement part.

Requirements

‹› Engine off

‹› Vehicle in horizontal position, all hoist supports at same height. 

‹› Noise insulation tray removed, if equipped

‹› Selector level at "P"

‹› (VAS 5051) is connected

‹› Before working, the oil temperature should not be higher than 50° Celsius.

Up to transmission production date "September 20, 2004", transmissions with two bolts were installed.

It is important not to change bolts. Only remove - A - for oil change near pendulum support

Transmissions installed after September 20, 2004, that are newer have only one bolt - A -.
