Checking and adjusting brake pressure regulator, vehicles with ABS
  Note
The brake pressure regulator is adjusted with the vehicle unladen. "Unladen" means: the weight of the vehicle ready for the road (full tank, spare wheel, vehicle tools, vehicle jack, driver in vehicle).
–  Switch ignition off and dissipate pressure in accumulator (actuate brake pedal approx. 20 times until pedal pressure increases perceptibly).
–  Raise vehicle.

–  Connect pressure gauge upstream of brake pressure regulator and pressure gauge to rear brake caliper/wheel brake cylinder.
a - Brake hose between hydraulic unit and T-piece upstream of brake pressure regulator (with additional T-piece -b- already installed in illustration).
b - Additional T-piece (part No. 803 611 755)
c - Brake hose (200 mm long), produced internally - install brake hose -c- between additional T-piece -b- and T-piece upstream of brake pressure regulator.
d - Pressure gauge connection to brake caliper/wheel brake cylinder.
  Note
t  In vehicles without T-piece upstream of brake pressure regulator, just one brake hose -a- leads from hydraulic unit directly into brake pressure regulator.
t  Unscrew brake hose -a- from brake pressure regulator, connect additional T-piece -b- and brake hose -c- between brake hose -a- and brake pressure regulator.

t  Connect pressure gauge connection -d- to rear brake caliper/wheel brake cylinder.
–  Bleed both pressure gauges.
–  Lower vehicle and bounce the rear of the vehicle several times.
–  Depress brake pedal and measure pressures.
–  Compare figures attained with specifications → Chapter and if necessary adjust.
Adjusting regulator.
–  Rear axle test pressure too high: - Relieve regulator spring.
–  Rear axle test pressure too low: - Tension regulator spring.
–  Remove pressure gauges and bleed rear brake system → Chapter.
