Installing > < Removing and installing windscreen

Removing
Removing
–  Unclip roof moulding in the area of the A-pillars.
–  Unbolt front wiper arms (M8 hexagon nuts = 20 Nm).
   
–  Unscrew the bolt heads -1- by several turns (which relaxes the clip) and pull them out with the clip -2-.
–  Pull off the seal -3- and remove the cover -4- for the plenum chamber.
–  Reset eccentric.
–  Twist the interior mirror off the adhesive plate.
–  Remove trim from A-pillars → Chapter.
–  Unscrew and remove the sun visors (this gives clearance between the windscreen flange and moulded headliner).
–  Release sealing lip from window flange using plastic wedge and spray with cleaning solution -D 009 401 04- (as substitute for lubricant).
–  Place cutting thread in window flange with help of tube (cutting wire may also be used).

–  Pull cutting thread through the adhesive sealing material into inside of vehicle with broach (from -V.A.G 1474-). Cutting thread is laid double up to windscreen wiper shaft.

–  Secure outer end of thread on windscreen wiper shaft.
–  Secure inner end of thread on reel device.
–  Apply the reel device -V.A.G 1654- to “position I”.
–  Move reel device according to the particular position required and cut window free.
–  Use plastic wedge to press cutting cord against window glass while cutting in order to have clearance at window flange and dash panel.
