Installing > < Removing and installing driver's airbag unit 03.98 ?

Removing
–  Disconnect battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.
   
–  Release steering column adjustment.
–  Turn steering wheel -1- until steering wheel spokes are vertical. Push steering column into upper position.
–  Secure steering column adjustment.
–  Insert screwdriver (approx. 175 mm long) from the reverse side into hole of steering wheel hub (insert screwdriver approx. 45 mm).

   
–  Press screwdriver in direction of arrow. When doing this the clip -10- is pressed back and the airbag unit retaining hook -3- is released.
–  Turn steering wheel back 180° and release second retaining hook on opposite side.
–  Position steering wheel -1- in central position (wheels straight ahead).
  WARNING
Electrostatic discharges may result in unintentional triggering of airbag. Therefore, the mechanic must electrostatically discharge him/herself before disconnecting the igniter and earth wires. This can be done by briefly touching the body or striker plate of the door.
–  Pull connector off airbag unit.
