Continued for all vehicles

If the display does not indicate as described:

  • ‒ Switch off ignition

N24-0160
  • ‒ → Connect test box V.A.G 1598/18 to control unit wiring loom.
  • ‒ Switch on ignition.
  • ‒ Check voltage with multimeter and aux. cables from V.A.G 1594 between test box sockets 1 (-) and 40.
         Specification:
Vehicles with automatic gearbox: min. 11 V
Vehicles with manual gearbox: 0 V
  • ‒ Check voltage with multimeter and aux. cables from V.A.G 1594 between test box sockets 23 (terminal 15) and 32 (-).
         Specification:
         Vehicles ▸05.97: 0 V
         Vehicles 06.97 ▸: min. 11 V

Note:

The earth cable is only connected to contact 32 on vehicles 06.97 ▸.

If the specification is not obtained:

  • ‒ Check wiring according to current flow diagram.
