Removing and installing starter

Removing:

 
V34-2441
  • ‒ Disconnect earth strap at battery.
  • ‒ → Support engine/gearbox assembly with 10-222A and legs 10-222A/1.
 
V27-0642
  • ‒ → Before disconnecting the wiring (starter connections), pull off black plastic cap and connector -arrow- from solenoid.
 
V27-0660
  • ‒ → Release and pull off connector terminal 50 -arrow-
  • ‒ Disconnect wire from solenoid terminal 30 -arrow-
  • When installing tighten nut to 13 Nm.
 
V27-0661
  • ‒ Tighten M8 nut -arrow- on stud to 10 Nm

Securing starter 1.8 ltr. / 2.0 ltr. petrol and 1.9 ltr. Diesel engines

  • ‒ Tighten M10x60 hexagon bolt -arrow- to front console, with 45 Nm

  • ‒ Tighten stud M10x140 -arrow-, to 60 Nm
 
V27-0664
  • ‒ Tighten upper hexagon bolt M10x140 -arrow-, for securing starter, to 60 Nm

Securing starter on 1.4 ltr. petrol engine

  • →      1 -     Hexagon bolt M8x160, 45Nm
  •      2 -     Hexagon bolt M8x70, with nut -4-, 60Nm.
  •      3 -     Hexagon bolt M8x70, 60 Nm

Securing starter, 2.8 ltr. petrol engine with manual gearbox

 
N27-0025
  • ‒ → Tighten stud M10x35 -1- to 43.5 ± 6.5 Nm.
  • ‒ Tighten hexagon bolt M10x35 -2- to 43.5 ± 6.5 Nm.

Securing starter, vehicles with automatic gearbox

 
N27-0030
  • ‒ → Tighten stud M10x35 -arrow-, to 60 Nm.
 
N27-0031
  • ‒ → Tighten stud M10x35 -arrow-, to 60 Nm.
 
N27-0032
  • ‒ → Tighten M8 nut -arrow- on stud to 10 Nm.
