Air conditioning and heating system - engine compartment
  Note
Parts marked with a “*” can be repaired only in workshops with suitable equipment and specially trained mechanics because the refrigerant must be evacuated beforehand using, for example, the air conditioning service station -VAS 6007A-.
1 - Damper with filling valve, low pressure side*
q   Releasing refrigerant into the environment is a punishable offence.
q   In refrigerant hose from expansion valve to air conditioner compressor.
q   Vehicles with engine code BDE, near expansion valve.
2 - Refrigerant hose*
q   From expansion valve to air conditioner compressor.
q   With damper.
3 - Refrigerant line*
q   From receiver with dryer bag to expansion valve.
4 - Evacuation and filling valve high pressure side*
q   Releasing refrigerant into the environment is a punishable offence.
5 - Air conditioning system pressure switch -F129- or high pressure sensor -G65-
q   Checking: vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- in guided fault finding.
Removing and installing:
t  Torque setting 8 Nm
t  Replace O-ring seal (note part number)
Pressure switch and high pressure sensor can be removed without evacuating refrigerant circuit.
The high pressure sensor -G65- cannot be checked via Climatronic self-diagnosis.
q   Check air conditioning system pressure switch -F129- → Chapter.
q   Check high pressure sender -G65- → Chapter.
Function:
q   Switches radiator fan -V7- to next higher speed when pressure increases in refrigerant circuit.
q   Switches off the air conditioner when the pressure is high (for example, insufficient engine cooling).
q   Switches off the air conditioner when the pressure is too low (for example, loss of refrigerant).
q   The high pressure sensor -G65- supplies information to radiator fan control unit -J293- and engine control unit.
6 - Expansion valve*
7 - Dust and pollen filter
q   With activated charcoal filter.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
8 - Ambient temperature switch -F38- installed ► week 09.99, temperature sender for compressor switch-off -G346- installed week 10.99 ►.
q   Switches off air conditioning system magnetic coupling -N25- if the ambient temperature is too low (off at -1° C, on at 7° C).
9 - Air conditioning system shut-off thermal switch -F163- installed ► week 17.99
q   Air conditioning system shut-off thermal switch -F163- switches off air conditioning system magnetic coupling -N25- when the coolant temperature is too high (off at 119°, on at 112°).
q   Removing and installing in vehicles with engine code AGZ → Chapter
q   Coolant temperature sender -G62- installed week 18.99 ►.
10 - Water drain valve
q   Checking → Chapter.
11 - Radiator fan control unit -J293-
12 - Refrigerant hose*
q   From expansion valve to air conditioner compressor.
q   With damper.
13 - Refrigerant hose*
q   From air conditioner compressor to condenser.
14 - Condenser*
15 - High-pressure safety valve*
q   Checking → Chapter.
16 - Air conditioner compressor*
17 - Air conditioning system magnetic coupling -N25-
q   Manufacturer: Sanden; designation: SD7-V16, repairing → Chapter.
q   Manufacturer: Zexel; designation: DCW-17D, repairing → Chapter.
18 - Receiver with dryer bag*
