• ◆ VW 771 Multi-purpose tool
• ◆ VW771/37 Puller hooks
• ◆ T10160 Drift instead of drift 3106
• ◆ V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench
• ◆ V.A.G 1332 Torque wrench

Removing

• ‒ If fitted, remove centre and left part of insulation below engine/gearbox.
• ‒ Remove drive shaft

=> Running gear, Axles, Steering front and four-wheel drive; Repair group 40; Servicing drive shafts

• ‒ Remove flanged shaft securing bolts, to do this screw two bolts into the flange and counter-hold flanged shaft using a lever.
• ‒ Place container under the gearbox.
• ‒ Remove flanged shaft with spring.

• ‒ → Pull flanged shaft oil seal out using VW 771 and VW 771/37.

Installing

• ‒ Drive new seal in onto stop using fitting drift T10160, do not cant seal when doing this.
• ‒ Half fill space between sealing lip and dust lip with grease G 052 128 A1.
• ‒ Insert flanged shaft.
• ‒ Secure flanged shaft with countersunk bolt and tighten to torque , item 18 .
• ‒ Fit drive shafts to gearbox.

=> Running gear, axles, steering; Repair group 40; Servicing drive shafts, Removing and installing drive shafts

• ‒ Check gearbox oil .
• ‒ Install noise insulation tray.
