Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Selector lever jig -3421-
  W00-0411
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
  Note
t  The following points are essential to ensure correct adjustment of selector mechanism:
t  Moving parts of selector mechanism and elements transferring force must be in proper condition.
t  Selector mechanism must move freely.
t  Gearbox, clutch and clutch mechanism must also be in proper condition.
l  Gearbox must be in neutral.

–  Loosen clamp -arrow-. Selector rod/gate lever connection must move freely.
–  Pull selector lever cover off centre console.
–  Remove rubber cover, if fitted.
  N34-0722
–  Loosen bolts -1- and -2-.
–  Push stop on right side down completely -direction of arrow-.
–  Now tighten bolt -1- again.

–  Push selector lever into 5th gear gate -in direction of arrow- and fit selector lever jig.
–  Jig must not cant.
  N34-0730
–  Push selector lever into gate for 3rd and 4th gear -direction of arrow-, engaging in selector lever jig.
–  Align selector rod with gate lever.
  Note
Ensure that no gear is engaged in gearbox (neutral position).
  N34-0716
–  Tighten clamp -arrow-.
Do not tension parts.
–  Remove selector lever jig.
–  Operate clutch.
–  Engage reverse gear.

–  Loosen bolt -1-.
  Note
The left side stop will then be pushed down -direction of arrow-.
–  Now tighten bolts -1- and-2- again.
–  Move selector lever out of reverse gear gate.
