Carry out basic setting
Carry out basic setting
In driving mode, the control unit learns which accelerator pedal positions the driver frequently uses at idling speed and full throttle. For example, carpet under the pedal could hinder the full throttle position, or constant contact of the driver's foot on the pedal could hinder the idling position.
But the installation of “new” parts which influence the composition of the signal could alter the learnt values. In this way, a situation could develop which has a notably negative effect. It does not signify a malfunction, but the “changed or unusual” shift behaviour is disturbing.
If basic setting is initiated, the learnt valves will be reset to the standard values programmed by the manufacturer.
Basic setting should be carried out after completing the following work:
t  After interrupting voltage supply in vehicle (e.g. to repair a broken cable).
t  After altering or renewing engine control unit.
t  After renewing throttle valve module.
t  For “older” vehicles, after adjusting throttle valve potentiometer.
t  For vehicles with “EPC”, → electronic power control, after renewing accelerator pedal position sender.
t  After renewing engine and gearbox.
–  Connect “tester” and continue switching until it is ready for operation → Chapter.
–  Press Guided functions.
–  Identify vehicle.
–  Select automatic gearbox 01M
–  Perform -J217- basic setting.
Always follow the instructions of the tester. It is especially important to completely depress the accelerator pedal once.
