Engine codes AHW, AKQ, APE, ATN, AUS, AXP
   
–  Remove cover above camshaft housing -arrows-.
–  At first, remove ignition cable guide with spark plug connectors.
–  Unscrew spark plugs with spark plug spanner -3122 B-.
  N24-0739
–  Disconnect 4-pin connector from ignition transformer -arrow-.
  N28-0102
–  Pull connector -arrows- off all injectors.
Engine codes AZD, BCA, BCB
–  Pull all 4-pin connectors off ignition coils with final output stages → Chapter.
–  Unscrew spark plugs with spark plug spanner -3122 B-.
Continuation for all vehicles
  N24-0736
–  Remove fuse 32.
  Note
Removing fuse 32 interrupts the voltage supply to the injectors.
–  Check compression using compression tester -V.A.G 1763-.
  Note
How to use the test unit is described in the operating instructions.
–  Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression pressures:
Engine codes AHW, AKQ, APE, AXP, BCA
New: 10…15 bar.
Wear limit: 7 bar.
Engine codes ATN, AUS, AZD, BCB
New: 14…21 bar.
Wear limit: 7 bar.
Maximum permissible difference between all cylinders: 3 bar
