  • ◆ 3203 Oil seal extractor
  • ◆ 3415 Counterhold
  • ◆ T10053 Assembly device
  • ◆ V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench (5 ... 50 Nm)
  • ◆ V.A.G 1332 Torque wrench (40 ... 200 Nm)

Removing

 
N13-0401
  • ‒ Remove poly V-belt .
  • ‒ Remove toothed belt => page 15-7 .
  • ‒ → Remove crankshaft toothed belt sprocket. To do this counterhold sprocket with 3415.
 
A13-0067
  • ‒ → To guide seal extractor, screw centre bolt into crankshaft onto limit stop by hand.
  • ‒ Unscrew inner part of oil seal extractor 3203 nine turns (approx. 20 mm) out of the outer part and lock with knurled screw.
 
A13-0060
  • ‒ → Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor 3203, place it in position and exerting firm pressure screw it as far as possible into oil seal.
  • ‒ Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against crankshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.

Installing

Notes:

 
A15-0578
  • ◆ → A PTFE seal (Teflon) -2- is being introduced instead of the inner coil spring seal-1-. This has a wider sealing lip.
  • ◆ PTFE oil seals are fitted free of oil and grease.
  • ‒ Before installing, remove oil remains from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth.
 
N13-0548
  • ‒ → Fit guide sleeve T10053/1 onto crankshaft journal.
  • ‒ Slide oil seal over guide sleeve onto crankshaft journal.
 
N13-0515
  • ‒ → Press in oil seal onto limit stop using press sleeve T10053 and bolt T10053/2 (M16 x 1.5 x 60).
 
N13-0401
  • ‒ → Install crankshaft toothed belt pulley sprocket and lock with counterhold 3415.
  • ‒ Tighten new centre bolt to 90 Nm and
         90° (1/4 turn)
    further (turning further can be done in several stages).

Note:

Thread and shoulder must be free of oil and grease.

  • ‒ Install poly V-belt => page 13-11 .
