Checking non-return valve for fuel pump
Checking non-return valve for fuel pump
Test prerequisites
The remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- for V.A.G 1348 is still connected.
The pressure gauge -V.A.G 1318- is still connected.
Test procedure
  Note
At the same time, this test checks for leaks in the fuel supply line connections from the fuel delivery unit to the point at which the pressure gauge -V.A.G 1318- is connected.

–  Close pressure gauge -V.A.G 1318- shut-off tap (lever at right angles to direction of flow).
–  Operate remote control for V.A.G 1348 -V.A.G 1348/3A- at short intervals, until a pressure of approx. 3 bar has built up.
  WARNING
Danger of spray when shut-off tap is opened. Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid injuries and skin contact. Hold container in front of open connection of pressure tester.
–  If pressure builds up too high, relieve excess pressure by carefully opening shut-off tap.
–  Watch pressure drop on pressure gauge. After 10 minutes, pressure must not drop below 2.5 bar.
If the pressure drops further:
–  Check line connections for leaks.
If no fault in lines is detected:
–  Fuel pump is defective, renew fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
