General description
General description
The telematics system makes it possible for the driver to obtain targeted information on the traffic situation on his route direct in the dash panel insert display, either by the touch of a button or automatically. Further to this the driver can make use of various services via the telematics control centre, e.g. breakdown service and emergency help.
The telematics system consists of the following components:
t  The dash panel insert with navigation display unit -J414-.
t  The mobile telephone -R54- (cellular telephone).
t  The telematics operating unit -E264-.
t  The telematics control unit -J499-.
t  A radio/telephone aerial -R51- and a navigation aerial -R50- (GPS).
On vehicles which are equipped with a telematics system and a radio navigation system the aerial filter -R87- is part of this equipment. It divides the GPS receiver signal into two signals: one for the telematics control unit and the other for the radio navigation system.
