Removing and installing telematics control unit in Jetta saloon
  Note
t  Before removing the telematics control unit, it is possible to read out the code via the -VAS 5051 oder VAS 5052- in function “J499 - Renewing telematics control unit”, and entering the code into the new telematics control unit after renewal. When it is possible to read the code on a defective telematics control unit, enter the code into the new telematics control unit and no subsequent recoding is required.
t  When it is not possible to read the code on a defective telematics control unit, code the new telematics control unit using -VAS 5051 oder VAS 5052- in function “J499 - Coding telematics control unit”.
Battery must be disconnected before repair work is begun! → Electrical system; Repair Group 27; Starter, current supply; Battery; Disconnecting and reconnecting batteries

–  Release trim in top left of luggage compartment and pull trim downwards -arrows-.

–  Remove nuts -arrows- on control unit.
–  Remove telematics control unit.
First disconnect 42-pin connector on telematics control unit.

–  Press securing clip -1- and move locking lever in -direction of arrow 2- for this.
–  Then disconnect aerial wiring connection on telematics control unit.
