  Note
Removal and installation are described for the left vehicle side. Follow same instructions for the right side as appropriate.
  WARNING
t  Observe the general safety regulations when working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnic components) → Chapter
t  Follow the special instructions for belt tensioners → Chapter.
–  Disconnect vehicle battery → Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove upper B-pillar trim → Chapter
–  Remove bench seat → Chapter.
–  Remove backrest → Chapter.
–  Remove sill panel moulding (2-door) → Chapter
–  Remove side panel trim → Chapter.
   
–  Unscrew bolt -1- (20 Nm).
–  Unscrew bolt -2- (40 Nm) and remove washer -3-.
–  Pull guide bar -4- through loop in belt strap.
–  Remove bolt -5- (40 Nm) and remove belt inertia reel -6- from B-pillar.
  WARNING
Electrostatic discharges may result in unintentional triggering of belt tensioner. Therefore, the mechanic must electrostatically discharge him/herself before disconnecting the igniter and earth wires. This can be done by briefly touching the body or striker plate of the door.
–  Disconnect connector -7-.
–  Remove bolts -8- (4.5 Nm) and remove belt guide -9-.
–  Unscrew bolt -10- (40 Nm) and remove belt guide fitting -11- from belt height adjuster.
