Installing > < Removing and installing front seat backrest

Removing
Removing
–  Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-.
–  Remove front seat → Chapter
–  Secure seat to seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove right side trim on seat → Chapter.
Vehicles with manually adjustable seat
–  Remove left side trim on seat → Chapter.
Vehicles with electrically adjustable seat
–  Remove left side trim on electrically adjustable seat → Chapter.
   
All vehicles
–  Detach retaining straps for backrest cover from underside of seat frame.
–  Disconnect wiring harnesses for side airbag and for seat heating from seat frame (if part of original equipment).
–  Remove two bolts each on left and right -1- and -2- (34.5 Nm).
  Note
t  The bolts are microencapsulated and must be renewed each time they are loosened.
t  Before new bolts are installed, the threads of the corresponding holes must be cleaned.
–  Remove backrest from seat frame.
