Topping up oil in Haldex coupling
Topping up oil in Haldex coupling
Test precondition
l  Vehicle level.
–  Top up with high-performance Haldex coupling oil.
High-performance oil for Haldex coupling is available as a part → Electronic parts catalogue „ETKA“.
–  Raise vehicle.
Vehicles with cross member:
   
–  Cover cross member with cloth.
If oil should land on the cross member or in the perforations in the cross member, carefully remove all oil.
–  To top up oil, use Filling device for Haldex coupling 2 -VAS 6291-.
–  Place drip tray -VAS 6208- under final drive.

–  Remove oil filler plug -arrow-. (For sake of clarity, shown with final drive removed.)

–  Screw in adapter -A- to stop.
–  Engage elbow -B- in adapter -A-.
–  Route hose above drive shaft.
l  Hose must not sag. It must exit at rear of vehicle above left rear wheel.
–  Lower vehicle.

–  Ensure that valve -arrow- is closed.
–  Screw oil reservoir -A- onto filler device for Haldex coupling II -VAS 6291-.
–  Now open valve -arrow- and hold oil reservoir as shown in figure.
The Haldex coupling will now be filled.
–  After a few minutes, raise vehicle.
  Note
t  If Haldex coupling has been properly filled, oil will have run out at adapter -A-.

t  If no oil has run out, lower vehicle and perform filling procedure again.
–  Raise vehicle.
–  If oil has run out, place oil reservoir below Haldex coupling (e.g. on a tool cart).
Excess oil will now flow back into oil reservoir.
–  When no more oil flows back, remove filler device -VAS 6291-.

–  Screw in plug -arrow- and tighten. Torque setting → Chapter
–  Then check oil level in Haldex coupling → Chapter.
