Checking exhaust gas recirculation valve (mechanical)
Checking exhaust gas recirculation valve (mechanical)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand vacuum pump with accessories -V.A.G 1390-
Test procedure
–  Remove engine cover. → Fig.
–  Pull vacuum hose off exhaust gas recirculation valve.
–  Connect hand vacuum pump with accessories -V.A.G 1390- to valve.
–  Operate pump and observe diaphragm rod.
   
The diaphragm rod -1- must move in -direction of arrow-.
–  Pull hand vacuum pump with accessories -V.A.G 1390- hose off exhaust gas recirculation valve.
The diaphragm rod must move opposite the direction of arrow to original position.
