Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Oil seal extractor -3203-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
t  Assembly sleeve -T10117/2-
t  Assembly tool -T10053-

Removing
–  Remove front right wheel housing liner → General body repairs; Rep. gr.66.
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to TDC for no. 1 cylinder → Chapter.
   
–  Now remove pulley securing bolt. Hold pulley with counterhold -3415- and -3415/1-.

–  Screw inner part of oil seal extractor -3203- three turns (approx. 5 mm) out of outer part and lock using knurled screw.
–  Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor, place it in position and, exerting firm pressure, screw it into oil seal as far as possible.
–  Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against crankshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.
–  Remove bearing bush from crankshaft journal and clean contact surfaces of crankshaft chain sprocket and bearing bush.
Installing
  Note
Note that pulley contact surfaces, securing bolt, bearing bush and crankshaft chain sprocket must be free of oil and grease.
–  Push bearing bush onto crankshaft journal.

–  Fit sleeve -T10117/2- onto bush and slide oil seal onto bush.
–  Remove sleeve -T10117/2- from bush.

–  Drive oil seal into valve timing housing to stop using assembly tool -T10053- and striking evenly with a hammer.
Install crankshaft belt pulley → Chapter.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
