General notes on ignition system
t  For trouble-free operation of electrical components, a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary.
t  After completing work, read fault memory of engine control unit, clear all fault entries which may have been created during checks and repairs. If the fault memory was cleared, the readiness code must be generated → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051“Guided functions”.
t  If the engine starts, runs for a short period and then cuts out after completing fault finding, repairs or component tests, this may be due to the immobiliser disabling the engine control unit. In this case, the control unit must be adapted → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051“guided functions”.
