  Note
t  The connecting pipe can be cut through at the point marked in order to renew the centre and rear silencers separately.
t  The cutting point is marked by indentations on the periphery of the exhaust pipe.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Chain-type pipe cutter -VAS 6254-
or
  W00-10229
t  Pneumatic sabre saw -V.A.G 1523A-
Procedure:
  WARNING
To avoid injury from metal shavings, wear eye protection and protective clothing.
  W00-0005
–  Cut through exhaust pipe at cutting point -arrow 2- using chain-type pipe cutter -VAS 6254- or pneumatic sabre saw -V.A.G 1523A-.
–  Position clamp -4- centrally at side marks when installing, arrows -1- and -3-.

–  Install clamp so that bolt ends do not protrude beyond lower edge of clamp -arrow-.
l  Threaded connection faces to rear.
–  Aligning exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.
