Removal and installation sequence of components of steering column switch
For removal of the complete steering column switch, inc. base, the switch is dismantled and the steering lock housing is also removed. For assembly of the steering lock housing, new shear bolts are required.
Even if just one component of the steering column switch is removed or renewed, the sequence described as follows must be adhered to.
Removing
  Caution
When batteries are disconnected and reconnected, the procedure described in the workshop manual must be strictly observed → Chapter.
–  Disconnect battery → Chapter.
–  Remove driver airbag → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.69.
–  Remove steering wheel → Running gear; Rep. gr.48.
–  Remove steering column trim → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
Remove components of steering column switch in the following sequence:
t  Steering column electronics control unit -J527- → Chapter
t  Airbag coil connector and return ring with slip ring -F138- → Chapter
t  Steering angle sensor -G85- → Chapter
t  Turn signal switch -E2- → Chapter
t  Windscreen wiper switch -E- → Chapter
t  Steering column switch base → Chapter
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence.
