Removing side airbags on driver and front passenger sides

  WARNING
Observe the general safety regulations when working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnic components) → Chapter
–  Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-.
–  Remove front seat → Chapter.
–  Secure seat to seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove right side trim on seat → Chapter.
Vehicles with manually adjustable seat
–  Remove left side trim on seat → Chapter.
Vehicles with electrically adjustable seat
–  Remove left side trim on electrically adjustable seat → Chapter.
All vehicles
–  Remove front seat backrest → Chapter.
–  Remove cover and backrest padding from front seat → Chapter
   
–  Disconnect wiring harness -1- from backrest frame.
–  Unscrew bolt -2- (9 Nm).
–  Remove side airbag -3- from mounting in backrest frame.
