Removing and installing »Carry out the following work sequence« Removing –  Remove high-pressure pump → Chapter.

–  Remove alternator → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. Vehicles with air conditioner   WARNING The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened. –  Unbolt AC compressor from ancillary bracket, then secure to lock carrier → Rep. gr.87 Klimaanlage. All other vehicles continued

–  Remove idler rollers -1- and -2-, unscrew bolt for toothed belt guard -arrow-. Golf, Golf Plus, Passat, Touran

–  Securing bolt for engine support -1-. All other vehicles continued

–  Unscrew bolts -6…1- and remove ancillaries bracket. Installing   WARNING Specified torque: Ancillary bracket → Chapter. Specified torque: engine support → Chapter Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence of removal. In the process, note the following: t  Note any fitted sleeves in ancillary bracket and renew missing ones if necessary. t  Renew all bolts to be tightened with further turning angle. t  Tack engine support bolt before tightening bolts for ancillary bracket.

–  Tighten securing bolts -1…6- in sequence → Chapter. –  Install high-pressure pump → Chapter, install toothed belt and adjust valve timing → Chapter. –  Installing the generator → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. Golf, Golf Plus, Passat, Touran –  Renew and tighten securing bolt for engine support -1-. Removing and installing engine support (Golf, Passat, Touran) → Chapter

Removing and installing engine support (Golf Plus) → Chapter All other vehicles continued –  Installing high-pressure pump → Chapter. –  Remove air conditioner compressor from lock carrier, then position on ancillary bracket and tighten → Rep. gr.87. –  Installing the generator → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. –  Filling/bleeding high-pressure pump/fuel system → Chapter.
