Testing jammed-open injectors
  WARNING
t  Read rules for cleanliness and the instructions for working on the fuel system → Chapter.
t  Always follow these rules for cleanliness and instructions before starting work and while working on the fuel system.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-

t  Make an -adapter- from a return line.
–  Erase fault memory entry with vehicle diagnosis tester.
–  Remove engine cover panel → Chapter.
–  Clean all connections (e.g. with commercial cleaning solution) before removing.
  Note
t  Make sure all parts are clean; no dirt must be allowed to enter the fuel system.
t  Check one cylinder after the other.
–  Dry all cleaned parts.
Begin with cylinder 1.

–  Pull return line connections off at injectors. To do this, press bows -1- and -2- down and simultaneously pull release pin upwards -arrow-.
–  Connect clean adapter to injector to be tested.

–  Use hand-operated vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to generate vacuum of approx. -500 mbar.
If injector is OK, pressure remains constant for 30 s.
If injectors are defective, the pressure drops within 2 ... 3 s to 0 bar
Repeat test, if necessary. Note loss of pressure of hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-.
–  Renew defective injectors → Chapter
