Checking valve guides

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Universal dial gauge bracket -VW 387-

t	Dial gauge

–	Insert new valve in guide. End of valve stem must be flush with guide. Due to differences in stem diameters, use only an inlet valve in inlet guide and an exhaust valve in exhaust guide.

–	Determine rock. Wear limit: 0.6 mm

If rock tolerance is exceeded:

–	Replace cylinder head.
