  Note
t  The sealing surfaces on bottom of retaining frame and top of cylinder head must not be reworked.
t  The camshaft bearings are integrated into the cylinder head and the retaining frame. The toothed belt must be relieved of tension before the retaining frame is removed.
t  If retaining frame has been loosened, the camshaft seal and the cover at rear must be renewed.
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Remove intake manifold → Chapter.
  Note
Seal intake ports in intake manifold lower part with a clean cloth.
–  Remove toothed belt guard upper part.
   
–  Set camshaft pulley to “TDC” No. 1 cylinder mark by turning crankshaft. Marking on camshaft toothed belt pulley must align with arrow on toothed belt guard.
–  Release tensioning roller and remove toothed belt from camshaft toothed belt pulley.
–  Turn crankshaft back slightly.

–  Remove camshaft toothed belt pulley. When loosening camshaft toothed belt pulley bolt, hold with counterhold tool -3415-.
–  Remove Woodruff key from camshaft.
–  Loosen cylinder head cover bolts from outside inwards.
–  Remove cylinder head cover.

–  Unbolt rear of toothed belt guard from cylinder head -arrows-.
–  Remove nuts from bearings 5, 1 and 3, then loosen bearings 2 and 4 alternately and diagonally.
–  Remove retaining frame.
–  Carefully remove camshaft upwards and lay aside on clean surface.
–  Remove roller rocker fingers together with support elements. Lay them aside on a clean surface.
–  Ensure that roller rocker fingers and support elements are not interchanged.

–  Remove old sealant from groove -arrow- in retaining frame as well as from sealing surfaces.
–  Prevent dirt and residual sealant from entering cylinder head.
