Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
  W00-0428
t  Locating pins -T10096-
Removing
–  Remove wheel.
–  If coupling rod for front left vehicle level sender -G78- or front right vehicle level sender -G289- is fitted, remove from suspension link.
–  Remove lower noise insulation → Rep. gr.50.

–  Remove nuts -arrows-.
–  Pull swivel joint out of suspension link.
–  Fix position of mounting bracket → Fig..
  N40-10005
–  Replace bolt for left side -1- or for right side -2- with locating pins -T10096- and tighten locating pins to 20 Nm.
  Note
The locating pins -T10096- may be tightened only to a maximum of 20 Nm; otherwise the threads of the locating pins may be damaged.
–  Unscrew bolt -11- on right side of vehicle or bolt -12- on left side

–  Remove bolts -1-.
–  Remove suspension link with mounting bracket.
Installing
–  Insert suspension link with mounting bracket into subframe.

–  Start bolts -11- and -12- but do not tighten.
  N40-10339
–  Start bolt -1- and tighten.
–  Now replace locating pin -T10096- with a new bolt and tighten to specified torque.

–  Bolt suspension link to swivel joint and tighten -arrows-.
  N40-10005
–  Bolt wishbone to subframe -11- and -12- in unladen state → Chapter.
Continue installation in reverse order.
  Note
Ensure that bellows are not damaged or twisted.
–  Install lower noise insulation. → Rep. gr.50.
–  Install wheel and tighten bolts or nuts → Chapter.

Swivel joint to cast steel suspension link
t  Use new nuts
60 Nm
Swivel joint to sheet steel or forged aluminium suspension link
t  Use new nuts
100 Nm
Suspension link to bracket
t  Use new bolt
t  Tighten bolt in unladen state
70 Nm + 180°
