Removing and installing steering column electronics control unitJ527 (manufacturer: Valeo)
Removing and installing steering column electronics control unit -J527- (manufacturer: Valeo)
Removing:
  Caution
The removal and installation of individual components of the steering column switch must be performed in a specified sequence → Chapter.
  WARNING
t  Danger of the triggering of the airbag!
t  Improper action on airbag unit may result in the triggering of the airbag!
t  Observe safety precautions when working on airbag → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.69.
–  Disconnect battery → Chapter.
Remove the following components in sequence:
–  Remove steering wheel → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.69.
   
–  Remove steering column trim → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
–  Depending on equipment level, release and disconnect connectors -1-, -2-, -3- and -4-.
  Note
Coil connector on steering column electronics control unit -J527- must not be twisted from its centre position. The front wheels must be in „straight-ahead“ position.
–  Unscrew the 3 securing bolts -arrows- and pull off steering column electronics control unit -J527- backwards from steering column switch.
Installing:
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing observe the following:
  Caution
Turn signal switch reset lever can break when control unit is being installed.
The turn signal lever must be in the 0 position when the control unit is being installed so that the reset lever is not extended.
–  Push steering column electronics control unit -J527- straight on steering column switch.
–  Screw in the 3 securing bolts of steering column electronics control unit -J527- to steering column switch module and tighten them to 1.5 Nm.
–  Install all parts in reverse order of removal.
