Subframe, Removing and Installing

Subframe, removing and installing 

Special tools and workshop equipment required

VAG 1383 A transmission jack

Removing

-

Remove noise insulation.

-

Remove bolts -1-.

-

Disconnect axle shaft from transmission drive flange.

-

Pull wheel bearing housing with ball joint out from control arm.

-

Swing wheel with suspension strut outward and support.

-

Remove bolts -1- and -2- and remove pendulum support. 

-

Remove bolts -5- for steering gear. 

-

Remove stabilizer bar link nut -7-. 

-

TDI engines, additionally remove bolts -6- for exhaust system. 

-

Place transmission jack VAG 1383 A with 1359/2 under sub-frame. 

-

Remove bolts -3- and -4- for sub-frame. 

-

Lower subframe using transmission jack VAG 1383 A.
