clean oil/grease residue from threads using approved nitro thinners, or L160, or equivalents

^

clean threads with compressed air

Installing

^

check/adjust left tie rod length

^

a = 379.5 mm (14-15/16 in.)

^

apply locking compound (D6 or equivalent), to threaded hole (arrow)

^

apply only one drop locking compound in second thread of rack

^

excessive compound will make subsequent removal difficult

CAUTION

Avoid getting locking compound on toothed rack.

^

tighten tie rod

^

specified torque = 70 N-m (52 ft.lb): always verify with a torque wrench

^

examine boot for wear (slits, cracks) and check sealing surface for cleanliness

^

install boot

^

turn tie rod ball joint stud to installation position

^

connect pressure compensating line

^

ensure correct seating
