License Plate Trim, Rear - Cracked at Lower Left Corner

Condition

License plate trim -2- cracked at lower left comer (may be caused by the square shouldered screw at the lower left mounting point -A-).

Service

Remove damaged license plate trim -2- from the rear lid -1- and replace noting the following:

-

Make sure lower left mounting point at -A- is free of molding flash; remove as necessary

Paint license plate trim.

Grind or otherwise remove enough material from screw -3- to reduce thickness of square shoulder -b- by 0.3 to 0.4 mm (approx. 1/64-in.).

Treat modified screw -3- to protect against corrosion.

-

Carefully insert square shouldered screw completely into trim panel, using needle nose pliers if necessary.

Install trim panel with NEW seal, in reverse order of removal.
