Clutch Pedal Assembly: Service and Repair
Clutch Pedal Spring
Removal
1. Disconnect the clutch cable from the transmission.
2. Remove the interior trim panel at lower left driver's side.
3. Remove relay panel from bracket.
4. Remove the guard plate from between the relay panel and the pedal cluster.

5. Remove electrical wires from retainers (arrow 1).
6. Press snap detent (arrow 2) toward pedal cluster.
7. Press guard plate up toward the instrument panel (arrow 3) until it can be removed from its retainers.
8. Remove guard plate from below, working carefully to avoid damage to wiring.
9. Insert screwdriver between steering column and clutch pedal and press it against the over-center spring.

10. Depress the clutch pedal and disconnect the over-center spring from the pedal in direction indicated by the arrow.
Installation
Install the clutch over-center spring in reverse order of removal, and note the following:
1. Install the relay panel in the left hand side retainer before installing the over-center spring.
2. Pull the clutch pedal back into the passenger compartment.

3. Guide the over-center spring between the pedal and relay panel holder until it is in the bracket (arrow 1) while being pressed below the clutch
pedal support (arrow 2).
4. Press the over-center spring onto the pedal support, depressing the clutch pedal slightly if necessary.
NOTE: If the clutch pedal operation is noisy, lightly lubricate the spring contact points with lithium grease (arrows 1 and 2). If the noise persists,
also lubricate the internal sliding surfaces of the spring.
