‹› Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Brake Pedal Actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)

Removing

Work procedure applies only for replacing or when performing subsequent service work on the brake caliper.

-

Remove the wheel.

-

Using a screwdriver, pry off the brake pad retaining spring from the brake caliper and remove it.

-

Disconnect the brake pad wear indicator connector.

-

Connect the bleeder hose from the bleeder bottle to the bleeder valve on the brake caliper and open the valve.

-

Install the (V.A.G 1869/2).

-

Close the bleeder valve and remove the bleeder bottle.

-

Remove the brake hose.

-

Pull both cover caps from the bushings on the brake caliper.

-

Loosen both guide pins and remove them from the brake caliper.

-

Remove the brake caliper from the brake carrier.

-

Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper.

Installing

‹› Piston is pressed in.

‹› Outer brake pad sits on the brake carrier.

-

Install the inner brake pad with the retaining spring in the brake caliper (piston).

When installing the brake caliper, make sure that the brake pad is not affixed to the brake caliper before the correct installed position has been
reached.

Do not damage the adhesion surface.

-

Install the brake caliper to the brake carrier using both guide pins.

-

Install both protective caps.

-

Install the brake hose to the brake caliper.

-

Remove the (V.A.G 1869/2).

-

Install the retaining spring to the brake caliper.

-

Connect the brake pad wear indicator connector.

-

Bleed the brake system. Refer to => [ Brake System Bleeding ] See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair.

Install the wheel.

‹› Before moving the vehicle, firmly press the brake pedal several times to properly seat the brake pads in their normal operating position.

‹› Check the brake fluid level.
