Battery with Visual Indicator, Checking

CAUTION!

CAUTION!
Batteries that have a colorless or light yellow visual indicator do not have to be tested or charged. Jump starting must not be used!

There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting. 

These batteries must be replaced.

CAUTION!
In order to prevent damage to the battery or vehicle, observe battery type descriptions and notes. Refer to => [ Battery with Charge

Perform battery checks in the following sequence:

Visual inspection, refer to => [ Battery, Inspecting ] See: Battery, Inspecting

Check the color in the visual indicator, 3 colors, refer to => [ 3 Color Visual Indicator, Checking ] See: Color Visual Indicator, Checking or 2
colors, refer to => [ 2 Color Visual Indicator, Checking ] See: 2 Color Visual Indicator, Checking

Battery test using the Battery Tester With Printer (VAS 6161), refer to => [ Battery Tester with Printer ] See: Description and Operation/Battery

Depending on the result of the battery test, perform a current draw test, refer to => [ Current Draw Test ] See: Current Draw Test

‹› Make sure the correct charging mode is set on the charger so the current draw test is not inaccurate.

In order to receive an indication as quickly as possible of the battery condition of discharged batteries, a conclusion can be made during the charging
process using the current draw as to whether the battery should be replaced or charged completely.
