Remove wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Install brake caliper.

Tighten drive axle bolt to wheel hub. Refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] See: Wheel Hub/Axle Nut/Service
and Repair.

‹› Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels when doing this, otherwise wheel bearing will be damaged.

Install ABS wheel speed sensor.

Install wheel and tighten. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Wheel
Fastener/Specifications/Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

-

Remove the drive axle bolt. Refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] See: Wheel Hub/Axle Nut/Service and
Repair. 

‹› Vehicle must not be standing on its wheels when doing this, otherwise wheel bearing will be damaged.

Remove wheel.

-

Remove brake caliper and engage on body with wire.
