Golf GL L4-2.0L (AZG) (2001)
^
Clamp armrest in vise as shown.
Reinstall left and right bushings with tab (arrow) on bushing pointed towards and lined up with notch on front of armrest as follows:
^
Align tabs on bushings with front notch on armrest (arrow).
^
Place washer against bushing.
^
Apply light pressure to washer using a bar clamp as shown.
Note:
Care must be taken when clamping bushings so as not to damage the foam isolating washers during the clamping process.
^
Depress armrest release and move armrest up and down while tightening bar clamp (this will allow bushings to slide into foam washers).
With bushing pressed into armrest:
^
Using a center punch, mark the lip of mechanism at the center between the tab -A- and the notch -B-, at 4mm from outboard edge of lip.
^
Mark lip at 180 from the first mark (pivot bar clamp as necessary to gain access).
Tip:
Care must be taken when measuring from outboard edge. If dimension is incorrect (too far inboard); the head of screw used in repair may contact the
inboard edge of armrest. If this happens you will not be able to tighten and fully seat the screw.
^
Drill a 3.1mm hole at these locations.
^
Insert screws Part No: N 906012 at these locations
With screws in place:
^
Release bar clamp.
^
Ensure that bushing is centered in foam isolating washer (foam isolating washer is not visible when bushing is properly installed).
^
Place washer on opposite side bushing.
^
Repeat clamping procedure.
