-
Perform idling check. See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Idle Speed/Testing and Inspection
NOTE: During idling check the EVAP canister purge regulator valve and the air conditioner are switched off and the Oxygen sensor control learning
procedure is initiated.
-
Perform a longer test drive until the poor driving characteristics are eliminated.
During the road test the following operating conditions must be fulfilled:
-
The coolant temperature must exceed 80 °C.
-
When the temperature is reached, the operating conditions
Idling
Part throttle
Full throttle
Overrun
must be attained several times.
-
At full throttle the speed must exceed 3500 RPM.
Replacement ECM, Adaptation (Function 10)
Replacement Engine Control Module (ECM), Adaptation (function 10)
NOTE:
-
The Engine Control Module (ECM) is adapted to the electronic controls of the immobilizer in the instrument cluster. For replacement of
component, a new adaptation must be performed.
-
If there are no authorized ignition keys available, new ignition keys must be prepared and adapted.
-
Secret number must be available, if not, see "Determining secret number".
-
Adaptation can be interrupted using the "C" key of the VAG 1551 scan tool.
Requirements
Authorized key available.
NOTE: If all components are being replaced, a new key set must be used.
-
Insert old (authorized) key into ignition lock.
-
Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST), switch on ignition, select operating mode 1 "Rapid data transfer" and enter address word 01 for "engine
electronics".

Coding XXXXX
WSC XXXXX
Display indicates control module identification and coding, e.g.:
-
06A906032CM = Part No. of control module
-
1.8L = Engine displacement
-
R4/5VT = Engine type (4-cyl in-line, 5 valve)
-
G = cruise control system enabled
No display = cruise control system not enabled
-
00001 = Software version
-
Coding xxxxx = Control module coding
-
WSC xxxxx = Factory identification from the VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST), with which the last coding was performed (if factory coding has
not been changed, WSC 00000 will be displayed)
-

Upper line
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), (17-digit, WVW...) Identification number, (14-digit, VW....)
For new control modules, place holders are indicated before adaptation instead of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the identification number
of the immobilizer.
