This product circular describes a revised check of the fully electronic ignition system for the GTI and Jetta GLI.
The following instructions, previously published in Fiche No 2 of 6, Feb 1, 1985, Group 28, become invalid:

adjusting data, spark plugs

checking electronic ignition

Hall sender, checking

TCI control unit, checking
Note
When checking the cable in the central connector for the ignition control unit, make sure that terminal 11 is either occupied or open, depending on the
engine code.
Coding for ignition control unit corresponding to engine code:
HT = terminal 11 occupied RD = terminal 11 open
Electronic Ignition (TCI-H)
Test Step I, Component Checking:
Knock sensor, vacuum hose, control unit, warning light.
CAUTION
Test lamp must be connected to (+) before connecting (1) to terminal. Do not use "standard" test lamp with an electric bulb. The high electrical
consumption of these test lamps can lead to damage of the electrical components.
