Ignition Rotor: Testing and Inspection

1.

Remove the distributor cap.

2.

Check rotor for cracks or any signs of burning, or pitting:

a) at the tip
b) at the resistor (between the contact points)
c) at the center contact

Replace the rotor if any signs of damage are found.

Testing Rotor

3.

Check the resistance between the contacts. Reading should be:

860 - 1260 ohms

If reading is incorrect, replace and retest with new rotor.

4.

Reinstall distributor cap.
