Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service Precautions
VALVE PISTON CONTACT

Use care when turning crankshaft or camshaft while toothed timing belt is loose or disconnected.

Piston valve contact is possible and may cause internal engine damage.

After installing new lifter(s) or cylinder head the engine MUST NOT be started for approx. 30 minutes.
-
Hydraulic build up in the lifters MUST subside, otherwise the valves will strike the pistons.
