Servicing
Axles With CV Type Inner Joint
NOTE:
-
Axle shafts for Plus suspension have shorter, finer splines on the outer constant velocity joint than those for Base suspension.

A 12-point nut secures the wheel bearing on Plus suspension.
-
The splines of the outer joint and wheel hub are coated with sealant, Part No. D 185 400 A2, or equivalent.
-
Grease quantity for constant velocity joints (grease Part No. G 6.3), or equivalent:
-
Outer: 110 grams (55 grams in joint, 55 grams in boot)

Inner: 120 grams (60 grams pressed into joint from both sides, 60 grams in boot)

Always replace

Remove/install with tool No. VW 161a, or equivalent

Gasket

Always replace

Pull off protective backing and adhere to joint
