Seat Occupant Sensor: Removal and Replacement

NOTE: 

-

Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) controls automatic passenger airbag deactivation.

-

This equipment is only installed on vehicles released in the USA.

CAUTION:  Observe safety precautions when working on seat occupied recognition. 

NOTE: 

-

Seat cushion, mat for seat occupied recognition, control module and pressure sensor must only be replaced together. Components are
complementary and must not be separated!

-

Only disconnect wiring harnesses mentioned in the following description!

-

Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.

-

Remove front seat.

-

Attach the seat to the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.

-

Remove front belt latch:
-

2-door

-

4-door

-

Remove right trim on seat:
-

Seat without pass-through

-

Seat with pass-through

-

Remove left trim on seat:
-

Seat without pass-through

-

Seat with pass-through

-

Remove bracket and front seat operating lever.

-

If present, remove mount for seat drawer.

-

If present, remove connector - 1 - from Front Passenger's Heated Seat Control Module J132.

-

If equipped, remove retaining clip - 2 -.

-

Remove retaining clips - 3 -.

-

If present, disconnect connector - 4 - and remove connector from seat frame.

-

Disconnect side airbag connector - 5 - and remove connector from seat frame.
