NOTE:  During removal and installation procedures, refer to the component location illustration above and component notes below.

COMPONENT NOTES

Main Bearing Cap (1)
-

Bearing cap 1, at vibration damper end.

-

Bearing cap 5 with recesses for thrust washers.

-

Bearing shell retaining lugs on cylinder block bearing cap must be on the same side.

Main Bearing Cap Bolts (2)
-

Tighten to: 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) + 1/2 turn (180°). 

-

Two 90° additional turns is permitted.

-

Always replace.

Bearing Shells (3)
-

For bearing cap use shells without oil groove.

-

For cylinder block use shells with oil groove.

-

Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark at disassembly).

Thrust Washer For Cap (4)
-

For bearing cap No. 5.

-

Note orientation.
