Jetta L4-1588cc 1.6L DSL SOHC Turbo (1985)

Remove air intake duct (A).
-
Remove remaining housing retaining clips.

Remove evaporator capillary tube (B).
-
Separate housing halves.
-
Remove evaporator (arrow).
NOTE: Installation is in reverse order of removal and includes the following additional steps:

Install new seals at:
^
A/C inlet/outlet lines at evaporator core and heater core.
^
Air intake duct.
^
All distribution case.
^
Other seal locations, as necessary.

Apply silicone sealer (available locally) to mating surface of:
^
Fresh air blower housing.
^
Air intake duct.
^
Evaporator housing (upper).
-
Tighten steering wheel retaining nut to 40 Nm (30 ft lb).
-
Evacuate and recharge A/C system.
-
Replenish coolant to specifications.
